Cal Ripken

Ian Desmond entered Monday's game hitless in his previous 17 at-bats, a streak that dated back to July 10, a span of 10 days.

Cal Ripken’s record-breaking consecutive games streak will be 20 years old on September 6. The Orioles aren’t home then, but they’ll be celebrating the streak on Sept. 1.

Cal Ripken watches the Orioles closely. Not only is he an avid observer because of a lifetime connection with the team, he watches them for his job as an analyst for TBS telecasts.

In the 50 years of the First Year Player Draft, the Orioles have had many more misses than hits in the first round.
